Rick 330 Jetglow Genuine?

Post by fender22 »

Hi, just bought a used Ric 330. Noticed you can see the joins in the headstock and the seam around the back plate of the body? I know the seams are pronounced and different colors on the maple glo but didn't think it would be noticeable on the Jetglow? Was a bit sus it was original at first but convinced now all is ok. Does anyone have a Jetglow 330? Are the join seams apparent?

You can see the joint seams on genuine Rickenbackers through the paint.

Welcome Craig! :D

What do you mean my "back plate of the body"? Is this a bolt on neck? If so, you bought a fake instrument!

Welcome to the forum, Craig. As the wood dries and shrinks, seams where two pieces of wood butt against one another can create a slightly visible seam (especially in Jetglo). However, if your instrument does indeed have a bolt on neck, as previously stated, then it is not a genuine Rickenbacker. No 330s have bolt on necks.

I think when he says back plate, he means the back of the body, not a neckplate.

At least, I hope that's what he means.

Nah, I did mean the timber back of the guitar, sounded like a bolt on neck plate eh?

I'm glad to hear the 330 is genyouwine!

Seeing the seams between the various wood sections is very common among many brands of instruments, so no worries, mate. :D
