Humbuckers in a 381v69

I've been mooting a replacement of the toasters that are currently in my 381v69. I need the guitar to a little more versatile, and I wouldn't mind having a bit more output, too. Has anyone ever done this, or can anyone give me a good description of the sound of the Ric humbuckers? I've trolled through the archives, and I know that they do retain some "sparkle", and that's great, but I'm more interested in how many different sounds they can produce. If I dropped them into the 381, would I be expanding the number of sounds I could get from the guitar or would I just be changing the guitar's signature sound? Hope this makes sense ...

I know you're talking about Ric humbuckers- but here's what happens when Gibsonesque humbuckers are added.

Unfortunately, it's a genuine '69 & not a V-series.

That's so sad!

The previous owner of my '75 360 did the same thing. My dream is to put Rick pickups back in it, but some of the top was routed away for the humbuckers.

It might sound good but that just looks weird. . . . like toasters on a strat or something.

I didn't know much about Rickenbackers when I got my 360 (as a gift). I was so depressed when I realized the pickups were wrong. It's still one of my prized possessions, but, I'll be happy when I get those humbuckers out of there.
