RM 1996 Guitar Buyer Feature

Post by godber »

I picked up this magazine recently and thought that some of you may be interested. It's from June 2007 and features a quote from Kenny Howes re. the blend knob. A bit of a mixed review, and bizarrely the front cover is photo re-touched to lose some grain pattern from the top horn.

Yeah, but the RRP and the price in the real world are usually two very different things.

I think the RRP for my 360/12 last year was around £1600, I didn'y pay anywhere near that.

£2875 is a Rickysounds type price.
i.e. For the rich, desperate or both!

BTW. Great post Mark. I love reading these reviews. It would be great if there were any others from other publications out there, that people could post.

I don't think that the photo is retouched to reduce the wood grain, but rather either the camera, or the printing press allowed the red to "block-up", and dominate the area in the final image, thus eliminating the brown, black and yellow grain.

I'll take that pic in "poster size". How did I miss that?

BTW: Did Kenny's quote turn out to be "What? No mustard?"

I use the 5th knob like John Hall said to do it, slightly rolled back.
Thanks for posting this, I love my BeatleBacker.

Thanks for the info Rob that explains it. I see conspiracy too quickly. :)

My fave guitar shop is listing these Rics in the same mag - 330 BBR = £999, 330 JG = £999, 620-12 FG = £949, 330-12 JG £1199, 360-12C63 £2499, so, some more expensive than now, some cheaper. Like Smokey R, you got-a-shop-around

I'm checking RickySounds every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night. An 08 340/6 Jetglo VP at £1825!!!  I feel like a Tory MP - I know it hurts but I want it. :D

I've got a few more Ric features to scan-in Rob. They take some time to sort out, but I'll be posting more soon.
