I think I'd kill myself if I thought the way you do Mitch!
Play them!
If they break,
Fix them!
I don't think I'd buy something if I couldn't play it whenever I wanted.
Re: I am afraid to play my Rickenbackers!
Mitch, they sell humidity control toys that you throw in the case. Don't worry too much about it anyway, though. I had a huge Guild 12 string that developed a crack on the face one hot dry summer, but none of my electrics have ever suffered from being too dry. That routed body is pretty thick-skinned in comparison. You can also run a humidifier in the room when you play if it worries you. Can't hurt. But don't deprive yourself till Spring of your beloveds. If they do break, like Nick said, they're fixable.
All I wanna do is rock!

Naw, Mitch. Box 'em up and send 'em down to me. I'll play 'em for you. After all, what are friends for, eh?

The one on the right needs some attention Mitch. I have it's evil twin. Perhaps if you send it to me they will both benefit.

My advice is to only play the black one.

Yeah, what those guys said.
I don't worry about that sort of thing, but then again, I live in So Cal, where a 50 degree day is a severe cold snap!

Thanks, well it has warmed up a bit here now(-4)but it is still pretty dry even with my humidifier going full bore.I wouldn't worry so much except I sold one of the 2 Ricks to a friend but it will remain in my custody for a few weeks (until he has all the money to pay me).I just don't want anything to happen to it in the meantime.paologregorio wrote:Yeah, what those guys said.![]()

The humidity here has been incredibly low, too, but that hasn't stopped me from pulling a guitar or two and and playing them.

If you can't keep the room humid enough, by all means keep them in your cases with the clay pot humidifiers. Take them out to play by all means, but put them back after. I would also soak the clay pots weekly should your house humidity be below 25%.
These days, inexpensive small humidifers with humidistats can keep small rooms at 30-40% without much difficulty. This environment is also good for people.
For the next few nights we will see -30C here.

You could always move to Britain. There is always moisture in the air and the lack of Sun means the finish will never fade!
