4003 Noob - combo amp recommendations?
While I have six Ric's, none is a bass, and I play bass with an acoustic trio, so I finally decided to ditch my Epiphone Viola, and plonked down a deposit today at Long & McQuade for a spanking new 4003 MG. And look, Ma - no waiting . . . they had one in stock at their Edmonton store and it's on its way to me now. I should have it by the end of the week. And of course, I can't be playing this through my Peavey Minx 110 so I'm going to check out a number of combo-style amps. No specific preference for 2x10, 1x12 or 1x15 but weight is one consideration for this Geezer. I've heard the smaller MarkBass combos are great & fairly lightweight, but a bit on the pricey side. Anyone have any specific recommendations on those?

Don't even look at anything else besides Markbass. They are great amps and us oldies love the weight reduction.

Ampeg B100R, my Rick 4003 sounds amazing through it! Warm, fat tone, almost tube like, but very affordable and looks cool too.
Re: 4003 Noob - combo amp recommendations?
Genz-Benz shuttle series, 3.0 10t or 6.0 12t, great little amp, 3.0 175watts with one 10" speakker 300watts with extention 10" speaker, 6.0 goes to 600watts with extention 12" .
Re: 4003 Noob - combo amp recommendations?
I also like the Genz Benz stuff. And, who says that light weight Neo stuff doesn't have tone. I keep a 2-10 cab at home and a 2-12 cab at rehursal. I carry my Ric and a gig bag with the head over my shoulder. However, I prefer the 210T and 212T cabs because they are front ported.

it just makes you a better singer!!!!
i still carry around 1 or 2 8x10 cabs....I like to move a bunch of air when I play!!!!
Re: 4003 Noob - combo amp recommendations?
I switched to a combo so I can get in the club in one trip, and beat a hasty retreat 4 hours later in one trip.
Balance the exercise by switching hands.Amp in left hand going in, right hand going out.
300 watt Behringer's plenty loud, and cheap as well.

Re: 4003 Noob - combo amp recommendations?
I Love the SWR workman series, but if you can find one a Super Redhead is awesome 350 watts with tube 12ax7 preamp. My rick sounds spectacular through it. May be hard to find and a bit pricey but worth it. If you wish later on you can add a 8x10 cab the amp has no problems driving all these 10" speakers at max power. One word of caution this combo is a bit heavy.
Good luck
