5th knob
I am finding it to be the most useful. Tone wise it is the best. I like it simple so I set the four knobs to full and use the 5th to adjust tone. Sound right?

Sounds good to me.

Re: 5th knob
I confess that I often do the same! But there is much more variation to be had by rolling off gain and bass...
The amp it is going through makes a huge difference too...

I do the same for the most part.btomlinson wrote:I am finding it to be the most useful. Tone wise it is the best. I like it simple so I set the four knobs to full and use the 5th to adjust tone. Sound right?
Re: 5th knob
I did the typical thing too until I modded the fifth knob to act as volume for the middle pickup. After that I have even more tonal options than before.
All I wanna do is rock!

That's a +1, Kira, good buddy!

That's how I do it.btomlinson wrote:I like it simple so I set the four knobs to full and use the 5th to adjust tone. Sound right?
Jangle, Chime & Twang.
Re: 5th knob
I'm all about the vintage Ricks these days, and it's not uncommon for one pickup to be louder than the other. So I use the two volume knobs to equalize the volumes, and use the 5th knob as a blender similarly. If the pickups are even, I can just leave them both cranked up, of course.
Re: 5th knob
Yep.......me, too, from time to time. But you can reach other spots on the tonal palette by tweaking the four volume/tone knobs in conjunction with the fifth knob. Hmmm, The Fifth Knob.......would that be an appropriate name for a band using Rics? Piling on late.......Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.
