Nominated for an Oscar in 1965..the Golden Palm Grand Prix winner in the Cannes Film Festival. Background music played by Davie Allan on lead, Al Casey on rhythm, Larry Knechtel (Bread) on keys, Jim Horn (Rolling Stones) on horns and on bass, LA session man Joe Osbourne. Predates The Z Boys era. The time of this film was my early skating era. Today I found not one but two pristine vinyl copies of the excellent Mike Curb produced sound track. About a year ago I sold my last skateboard (a high tech bamboo model longboard from Hawaii). Getting harder to deal with the rash and the ocean (if you respect her) is more forgiving so decided to stick to sponging. After seeing this film again after many years I may just have to get another board...and a helmet! Cool film and I believe the earliest recording of Davie Allan....
SkaterDater Davie Allan
Re: SkaterDater Davie Allan
Wow - hardly anyone I know from my age group (40s) has heard of this, but I sure remember seeing it at the cinema with my sister, probably around 1970. I don't recall what movie it preceded. I remember the kid going under the truck near the end. It was very cool.
Re: SkaterDater Davie Allan
Good grief! I blush to admit I remember this movie.
