Straplock problem on my Ric4003

Post by topshed34a »

I have a 2008 Ric and I have noticed that the straplock on the horn is not very secure, it tends to unscrew out of the body and this could have dissasterous results if not corrected. I have tightened it by hand.
Unlike conventional straplocks that are a woodscrew throuth the end of the straplock these are one peice and more like a bolt and it looks as if the timber is actually thread.
What would be the best way for me to secure this, I thought of varouls glue or even loctite but will await the counsel of the wise (or pehaps a luthier) to advise me.
Regards
Steve

I believe the conventional wisdom is a drop of water in the hole to swell the wood, then a bit of wood glue (the yellow stuff) to hold the bolt. Let dry overnight.
