Kurt Crandall & True Story

Post by peewee »

Kurt Crandall (http://www.myspace.com/kurtcrandall)(http://www.kurtcrandall.com) is an old friend of mine and a fine harmonica player in both the diatonic and chromatic traditions. He moved back to Virginia - Richmond to be precise - last summer and we instantly put a band together to back him to support his two CDs. I'd worked with Kurt back in 2001 when he lived in D.C. and we'd talked about working together again about 2 years ago.

Here are a couple of short YouTube clips taken from a date in Manassas, VA on April 17th. In these clips, we have an old bandmate of mine, David Sobel , sitting in with us on piano while he was visiting from San Francisco. Dave and I were in the Catfish Hodge Band together until 2003. The rest of the players here are George Sheppard on drums ( formerly w/ Smokin' Joe Kubek & B'nois KIng as well as Eric Johnson, Dizzy Gillespie and played on The Talking Heads' "Burning Down The House" ), Steve Riggs on bass ( formerly w/ Tom Principato, Bob Margolin and guitar wildman Evan Johns ) and hidden in the darkness, your's truly on guitar. George, Steve and I were all in The Grand Dukes together and George also plays in my own group, The Primates. The three of us also work with Mitch Kashmar when the opportunity arises. These are just snippets that showcase Kurt's playing - don't know what happened to the rest of these clips.
