Sorry, Mark, but it's the first time I've been disappointed. You know I'm a big fan and love you madly but this one missed the mark with me. Nothing technical wrong with it, the singing is good as always, but it just didn't grab me; I guess I didn't like the lyrics. The song has potential in the direction of Ringo's self-titled album, or Joe Walsh's work of the mid seventies, which should have made me like it. I just don't know why it didn't work for me.

This is one of those songs that you are either going to love or hate. You have both sides of the spectrum now Mark.

Mark, I've thought about it overnight and I'm convinced that this is just not the right direction for you. My favorite songs of yours are those with the poetic lyrics and the heartfelt crooning. Just me bias of course. There's nothing really wrong with the song - I think it's a good one for someone else to pick up.

Hi Kira and Brian!

Oh, I think any old direction has always been the plan with me. The next song is always different. I suffer from Genre-heimers Disease or something. But this has been the most polarizing song I've written in ages. Seems to be either wonderful or wrong. Young people seem to really like it. Me? I'm already on to the next one.

But thanks even more to Kira...it's not easy telling someone when you don't like something, but I find that kind of info very valuable! It's hard to predict how things will go over, and we're usually in love with whatever we're working on. So thank you Kira Moon!

This was also my own warped version of good clean family fun. My wife and daughters stepped up to a mic and just riffed a bunch of silly lines that high fashion models might say, so that I could cull the good ones and pasted them wherever they might work. We laughed our butts off doing that. Especially when I'd play them backwards.

I think the direction I move in is like a star pattern...the next song will be in some very different genre, then the next one will come back somewhat, then somewhere else...If I'm moving in a line, I think I might be trapped in a Spirograph or something.

It is clearly a fun song, and I appreciate the "Valley Girl" aspect that the Kaufmanettes provide, now that I have a little more information. Of course, someone as imaginative and prolific as yourself needs to explore every color of the rainbow. But I thought I'd thought I'd play the hardcore MK fan that I am and be brutally honest. Hey, I'm selfish. I eagerly await your next production (and hope it's another tear jerker )

I also didn't mention that this was the product of an online challenge to apply music to an existing lyric. I saw Calvin's name and jumped on that one. He wrote the lyric a couple years ago, and I liked the unusual structure...four words for a verse, two more for the hook, repeat, move on to a long weird chorus... I kinda want to add even more sounds.

"They're not staring enough!" Hilarious! This city is full of girls who exude that attitude. It's like if they had super-ego turrets this is how it would spew forth.

Interesting hearing you go off into a techno-pop sort of vibe, yet the distinct Kaufman vocal harmonies still ring through. In one particular section the "Catwalk Candy" line sounds just like "Good Day Sunshine." Was that by design? I'd like to think so, even if not.

There's also the sinister bit with the preacher bit, reminds me a lot of something from Rocky Horror.

Overall, Tres Campy! I likes. But if you tell me that one of your daughters did the Hot Chick part, I'm going to have to burn out my eardrums.

Burn 'em out! The opening and closing line is little Lucy, 12. Sorry, we're a theatrical family...HA...we very much enjoy the crazy discomforts we inflict on the unsuspecting populace.

I actually didn't realize about the "Good Day Sunshine" lift until it was pointed out on another forum...but it's an obvious rip-off, exact timing, maybe even same key. Duh! I just wasn't aware I was doing it. Good thing too, or it would have thrown me completely off track if it occurred to me while I was writing it. It's hard for me to listen to the sinister bit, a little too creepy even for me.
