Byrd Watching

Post by jimk »

Here's a place for you to post your favorite Byrds photos. I'll start by posting these. The first one is interesting in that Croz is playing a Rick 370/6 string.

The picture of The Byrds is from London 1965. Great photo! First photo, Crosby is playing a 370/6 BYRD. Wired like Mcguinn's 370/12 BYRD, also in picture. Both guitars have 3 pickups, two toggles, master volume & three individual(per pickup)volume knobs. Crosby's 370/6 BYRD where abouts unknown. :(

Brian Jones (top) and Michael Clarke (bottom). Yeah, I guess they do look a bit alike. It's the haircut.

I have this really cool photo in my "Essential Byrds" album of David and Roger tuning their Gretsch and Ric guitars respectively in front of a pair of Fender Dual Showmans in about '65/'66 which just caught my eye when I bought that album in July 2008. If anyone can post it before me, it'll be appreciated, if not, then I'll post it later.

Go ahead, Jake. I'd love to see it. You'll likely get to it faster than I could find it out on the net, anyway.

Here it is. What really bugs me is that they sliced off some of it with a picture from the 70s. One of my favorite Byrds photos

There's really only one place in London where the pigeons flock like that - It's got to be Trafalgar Square.

Here's a slide show somebody put together on Youtube of Chris & Roger backstage. The pix are apparently from 1967.

Jim, as our resident Byrds historian, 8) do you know if there are bigger color copies (and better resolution) of that Ed Sullivan Show picture with the groovy, circular orange backdrop available ?

I was hoping to get something maybe 5" x 8" size or better, for framing, for hanging in my music room.

I did a couple of web searches the other night, Google and Bing, but the several candidates of this shot that come up (either gray scale or color) are all rather smallish size.

Any clues on where to find ?
Thanks

Can anybody provide a l-r identification of the front row personel on the big coloured picture a few posts up from here? There are 6 persons. Is it Gene sharing the microphone with Crosby, or is it Gene with Michael Clarke? Then, who's the 6th person? Gram Parsons with David??
