ElAl's Air show, celebrating Israel's 61st independence day

Post by gibsonlp »

ElAl (Israeli airliner) flew across Israel's shoreline to Celebrate Israel 61st independence day, 4 planes (747, 777, 767 and 737) in a formation, flying for 2 hours at 1000 feet above sea level in a tight formation.
First time in aviation history that such large people carriers are used for an air show!

I was lucky to get some shots of the airshow and here are some of them:

:D Yes, very cool! I always like airshows, airplanes, watching planes fly, flying them myself, etc., etc...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

How neat is that! The question is, did they do a barrel roll in formation?!

Thanks guys, it was actually quite a sight, 4 huge airplanes flying together slo close and at such a low altitude...

As a kid as well as an adult, I've never been to the yearly military air force show that is being held in Tel Aviv's shore every year... I saw some videos and it looks really amazing, Kareene and I agreed that we are not going to miss next year's airshow.

We had an air show here for decades, alternating between the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, with one year of the Canadian Snowbirds when the other two were booked up. I had a spot off-airfield that was where most of the turning was done to set up a run at the field and it was better than being at the show on the field. Once a Snowbird turned 50 feet overhead and you saw the pilot sitting working the controls. The F-16s were so forceful and loud that it shook your body as they banked. Awesome! One year an F-14 and a MIG-25 simulated air combat - the MIG was chased to the field then almost stood on his tail in a move that almost immediately put the F14 in front of him. I love the raw power - vertical power climb over the field straight up accelerating!

Go next year Gil.

John, we get that kind of show every year right over Labwork's building during practice for Cleveland's airshow! Sometimes they fly so close overhead to the building we could probably see the whites of the pilot's eyes! Trés cool. :D
