POLL: String ends - What's your style?

Post by kiramdear »

Do you clip them? Do you use them for curb feelers? Do you roll 'em up in tiny loops? I'm embarrassed to say I've got all three things going on in my menagerie  I guess I have no style at all. What about you?

Five people sharing the same stage, often small, requires nicely nipped string ends; we don't want to poke each other's eyes out, and in any case, I like things tidy!

Beyond that, and whenever possible, I have the Safe-T-Post/Slotted Post top tuners, which always make for tidy ends, since the string end goes into the tuner post itself. :D

I like the little Jheri curl effect you get when you put old strings on a different guitar. 8)

Neat and trimmed! :)

Especially on any of my guitars that have locking tuners.

I picked "other". I cut the strings off and then stick the end down into the hole in the center of the tuning peg. It nice that they make bass tuners that way, keeps those huge steel bars from taking someone's eye out...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I clip 'em close. I've stabbed myself with long string ends way too many times. Probably shouldn't be allowed to handle sharp objects.

I Lennonized the string ends on my 320 jetglo with the Accent tailpiece. Next I'll take a meat tenderizer to the body edges, and re-create that nasty crack in the headstock. The other mods would start costing me, so they can wait.

The loopers know that if the ball end breaks, you can have a second chance.

Lennon seemed to be in the "whatever" catagory. It seems that he was never particularly attentive to the
small details of his guitar - missing knobs, cut or curly string ends etc.

I clip 'em close. I've always been paranoid about poking my eye out. Anyway, having a shaggy headstock just looks like you're trying a little too hard to be cool...or a moron.
