Does anyone like Azure???

Post by jaymi »

I did this for fun to send to a friend of mine who I mess with constantly about playing his Ric...I usually end up playing mine at him over the phone and he FINALLY decided to retaliate....I figured the next thing that would be appropriate is video so here you go:

I like AZ Blue. It was my first choice for my first Rick guitar ever. :D

I love that colour!

The reason I bought my midnight blue 4003, was because they don't make Azure any more!

I remember seeing some footage of the UK late-70's band X-Ray Spex on TV about 10/15 years back, and the bass player (can't remember his name) was playing an Azure 4001. Got me hooked! :D

This is still my favorite bass of the ones I've got right now despite the "battle scars"

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Blue is my favorite colour. And with two MID's at home and one BBR on its way (sometime, if ever) AZG is the only blue I still need to add to my Ricks.

AZ fades to a rather bright cobalt blue, (as in the top photo on this page) and I have found that this is the "Azureglo" that many Rick enthusiasts really like. This could also be the camera, as many digital cameras have difficulty with subtle blues and greens. My 4-element Sony top of the line simply CANNOT do a competent green that is neither bright or dull--nothing in between, and forget the subtle blue-greens.

OTOH, Cj's AZ is closer to the "true" AZ color. AZ has a good deal of yellow in the mix, to green it up from cobalt. The yellow has proven to be unstable with time, and fades away upon UV exposure, leaving us with that bright blue that we're used to seeing. Look under the guard and true AZ becomes visible. Sometimes, I've found out, the front and back of an AZ instrument will be two quite different colors, because the front has faded to some degree.

Good info as usual, Paul. Any thoughts on what time might do to a July 2008 MID?

AZ is nice; and I would say that the "faded to cobalt" is even nicer.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

I like 'em both, but I'm a cobalt guy myself. BTW Jaymi, good to see you slappin' that Rick, and awesome tone too!
