Opening old Logic projects in newer Logic version

I'm hoping somebody here knows how I can deal with this problem. For the last couple years, I have been using an old Mac tower and a very old version of Logic - Logic Audio 3.5. I recently purchased a Macbook and Logic Express 8. I have taken all my sound and project files from my old Mac and have transferred them to my MacBook. I am able to import individual audio files but I cannot import full project files. I have a whole whack of unfinished recordings, songs in various stages of completion, a few that were in process and having to import individual sound files and reconstruct these will be a lot of work. Reading the Logic 8 manual, it says that it will open project files back to version 5. There must be a way to import my 3.5 project files without adding each sound file into a new project - no? Any suggestions?
