Where To Sell Rickenbackers

Post by nextcliffburton »

Hey Guys!

New to this board still but I was wondering If anyone knows anywhere I can sell my ric.

I have a Rickenbacker 4003S/5 and its in decently good condition. Few scratches and small dents, couple hairline fractures (very small) and some of the finish (which I heard is very common) is coming off the neck around the 17-20th frett, not cracking of the wood. I'm tryin to get atleast $2,000 so I can have enough to buy a 4 dtring 4001 (Burgundyglo if possible) straight up. Sounds great but never been a fan of a 5 string, I bought it because I was desperate to own a rickenbacker. Anyone have any advice?

Here's some pics:

Serial Number is ZG 1928 .

You can check it at:

it shows manufactured in July of 1986

Currently I'm using a Schecter I modified to sound like a ric. it's ok but not the same as the growly ric. Here's what it sounds like, people say it's really original but I just want a ric. I call it a Schecinbacker :]

Schecter:

Thanks guys!

For anyone who may be interested in Jake's s-5 I'm local to him and would be glad to arrange to meet up and check things out first hand.

Let me know if you'd like any assistance.

I saw it on eBay both times (I watch the Rics because I have a few I'm looking to sell myself, but am not so desperate and am hoping they'll get better prices when the economy turns around) and was thinking about it as an investment because I always hear about that guy who got $3800 for one, but people are just dropping their pants on Rics right now. Plus I already have a 4004L 4-2-5, and with shipping I probably paid too much back when the economy was good. I have a brand new 2009 4003 Mapleglow in mint condition (my avatar), and I don't think I'd get much more than $1800 on eBay these days. It's definitely a buyers market for Rics right now, but good luck on selling that 4003s5.

I know things are tough right now - I'm kind of sorting my basses out - selling what I don't use, and even on E-bay nothing has sold.

I got rid of my 2003 4003 FG, but only when it was snapped up during the relist. It was up for a really good price as well!

With the Euro exchange rate against the pound, I thought European buyers would snap things up - but that's not been the case so far.

Like so many things on E-bay - you get a mass of watchers, but nobody seems to actually bid!! :( :(
