Suspect "RED 4003" auction.

Post by deargdoom »

There's a dodgy ebay listing for a Red 4003 using a known forum members personal photos of the same instrument. They also use pictures of a Redneck special edition which of course is a different version of this bass:

Good eye. Seller and Ebay have both been notified of the pirated Red 4003 photos in this auction.

Some progress.

Seller emailed me back "OK, sorry!" and pulled all the Red 4003 photos from the ad except the leadoff pic. His ad now has only (bad) photos of the Redneck except for the leadoff 4003 photo. I asked him to remove the last photo of the Red 4003 as he is not selling that bass.

Final outcome: Photo pulled and auction closed: "The seller has closed the insertion before the due date because the object is not available for sale."

Well, I just clicked the link and the item is still up on ebay. Four photos are there; three outdoor shots (one of the headstock) and a shot of the bass angled in the case. Not sure which set of photos were in question, though.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Thanks for checking. The ebay listing no longer active (the auction was terminated today). The pic of the 4003 (shot of the bass angled in the case) that is now the "lead off" photo was not pirated from the Register and was added to replace the pirated one. Perhaps it is actually a photo of the bass that was (supposedly) for sale!

That picture of the bass in the case I have seen on another bass forum and is owned by someone who isn't from Italy, the other pictures are taken from the-music-connection.com so that's several pictures from 3 separate sources and the basses don't match in each. Do you still believe there's a bass for sale at all?

I don't know what to believe, other than the auction is over and photos from the Register are not included in the listing. The seller has 600+ transactions and lots of + feedback as a seller, so who knows what's up? Not me! I only know what's NOT up.

Yeah, interesting. The "angled" shot of it in the case has crushed triangle inlays, and the other three are of one with the S series dots. Missed that before. It's hard for me to understand that kind of motivation. Things are what they are; truth is what everything is all about, y'know?

It was sold by Mike Parks at The Rickenbacker Page (the-music-connection.com) some time ago.

For the pics, here's the link. It's on the left about 2/3 the way down on this page: Redneck Sold
