If you could only have one 325c58...

Post by egosheep »

If you could only have one(choosing between AG and JG), which would you choose, and why? And how would you have it set up?

I'm torn. I know I want a bigsby and bowtie, but as for colors and knobs, it's a constant tossup. The AG is classic, original to the capri, just very nice all-around. The JG looks amazing with the gold guards and chrome... arg.

Which would you choose, and why?

Jetglo; it's a fat bolder finish to my eye.

Alder is more grey than yellow, so has less of an appeal to my eye as a natural finish, and natural finishes don't excite me all that much in any case.

Given the choice, I'd prefer a 350 C58, but those don't exist.

Alderglo for me because the wood grain looks different than the standard maple, and I'd want to show that fact off.

I chose AG just for the looks, I suppose. I think I'd rather not have the Bigsby on it. It looks too busy to my eye on such a smallish guitar body. The Bigsby would be a must on a Gretsch, however.

Thats interesting, because to me a 325 is one of the few places I think a (standard)bigsby looks right on a Ric... compact, but all business. On a 330/360, i feel like its lost in the size of the guitar. I do like a B7 on a 330 tho.

Jetglo, so I can mod it up to look like the V81 in "Sullivan" state. I always thought V81 looked it's coolest then. It's most relic'd, too...

It's a tough choice...the guitar looks great in both finishes. When I ordered my first one new, I said JG...then changed my mind and said MG...then said I'd take whatever came in first. Turns out it was JG.

Later on I got a MG model off the 'bay, which I intended to flip. But I liked the finish and feel of it so much (the neck has a slightly different heftiness to it than my JG) that I still have it.

It's a selfish thing, I'm trying to choose between those two, so I just included the stock colors. Also, JG and AG were how Lennon had his 325, so I'm interested in which people prefer in that context as well. I really don't know what I prefer, but now I'm leaning JG. I think JG with chrome toasters, bigsby, bowtie and all that gold is just a really striking combo.
