In 1969 Frank Allen at one gig said this was The Searchers new single, it was never released until years later when it appeared on the CD Second Take as a bonus track.
It is possible that this track was going to be the first single on RCA.
The track was written by David Gates and featured on the debut album by Bread

When I saw the Searchers in 2005, after the show Frank was nice enough to autograph my copy of "Second Take" a CD compilation of all their RCA tracks. He said, "Don't Shut Me Out"; that's a good one, isn't it"? So I guess they really liked it. Nice to hear a song where they sound a little heavier.
