ok i'll play..i have used a few different pedals over the years....i only currently have an art phat boy pedal,which has a "drive" setting,with which i can get a fairly good felix pappalardi sound out of my cii ! it also has various delays/chorus/flanger-it works pretty well for when i want to add a bit of color. in the past,i really loved the mutron 3 pedal and an early eventide delay. i did have a (marshall?) fuzz pedal years ago,but didn't use it much.

The one pedal I use most for bass is my Peterson Stroboflip. If you mean "effects" pedal, than my Sansamp VT Bass pedal.

For guitar it is my Digitech Hardwire SC-2 Valve Distortion pedal.

I wonder what a sansamp bass driver would sound like with a 4001. I've always wanted one because I heard their great, but dang they're spendy

I tried a SABDDI for a few days; I did not like the midrange suckout it produced. The VT Bass is a far better sounding pedal, the only thing it lacks compared to the SABDDI is it does not have a XLR our. I run my VT Bass into my Radial DI if I need the low impedance out.

I'll check out the Radial DI (typically checking out Jeff's recommendations leads to good things right? well double Toasters anyways) to pair with my VTB--I have been wanting a BDDI.

What kind of volume pedal should I get to go with my 4003FL and 4003 (both are double Toaster)? I have been criticized on another forum for not playing loud enough during my solos but it's really hard for me to quickly boost my levels on a passive bass. So... what to do? Volume pedal makes sense to me, I just dunno what to get.

A volume pedal isn't going to help you with playing your solos louder unless you play with the volume pedal slightly depressed at all other times.

I think you really want a booster pedal. Something like MXR's Micro Amp would do the trick.

My fave is my Boss EQ-20 programmable graphic equalizer pedal. I have 2 presets saved for each bass - one for getting my sound, and a second patch for boosting solos & select passages. I also love my Boss noise reduction pedal for killing the single-coil hum from my 4003.

Jake, if you go the Sansamp route, I'd choose the Para-Driver over the BDDI. Its essentially the same pedal but voiced a little deeper, and It has a mid frequency knob with a mid boost/cut knob, alot more tonal control for your $$$$.

+1 on the Tech 21 VT.
