GOOD covers!

Post by longhouse »

The 'worst covers ever' thread got me thinking...

Here's a rare one -and a VERY cool cover (hey, I'm loving that organ sound!):

Julie is a fantastic singer. :D I have a bunch of early Brian Auger CDs that julie is just amazing on, as both Driscoll and Tippetts.

She was completely under the radar for me somehow. Glad I found her -whilst looking for BAD cover songs. :)

Cool! I don't even like the song that much, but I do like Nina Hagen, and I like this version. :D

Thanks for posting Sheena.

BTW, that is Brian on the organ in that video. We are going to see him in mid September at our local jazz club/restaurant Night Town. We have seen him many times over the past several years there, and he always does Season Of The Witch. Brian's daughter, Savannah, does the singing these days; she is pretty decent but no Julie Driscoll/Tippetts, unfortunately. His son, Karma, is the drummer and is excellent!!! :D Brian usually really jazzes that up at gigs; in the above video he is quite sedate.

This is fairly current:

Here is a shot of Brian from May 31st, 2004 at Night Town.

The first time I saw The Oblivion Express was in 1973 at The Smiling Dog Saloon in Cleveland.

For the discerning - Devo's version of "Satisfaction"...

Hot clip of TALT! The Commitments did a righteous version too (albeit in a manufactured sort of way).

You should come up to Cleveland, as BA & TOE will be there on the 3rd and 4th, at Night Town which is an ideal place to see bands due to the intimate nature of the place.

Here's one. Although this version doesn't have the greatest sound, it does have bonus Rickenbacker content.

Would love to but things tight here until I get myself re-employed - all frills on hold until then. When I saw them at DAR I was in the 3rd or 4th box from the stage!! That was really cool.

Greg, great video - love the marble look of the bass...
