If I'm not mistaking the guy who started that carbrand is a brother of the guitar guy, right? And WWI ace Eddie's part of the same family?kennyhowes wrote:Look, the RRF of Rickenabcker automobiles!

Re: Rickenbacker Car Fan Site!
from their history page:
"The Rickenbacker Motor Company was incorporated in July of 1921 when Barney Everitt decided to start up another car company. He asked Eddie Rickenbacker for the use of his name on the automobiles and named Eddie vice-president & director of sales for the company. Everitt also asked long time friend and businessman Walter Flanders to help get this car company off the ground. Everitt & Flanders worked together before with William Metzger at the EMF car company from 1909-1912. (For more information on EMF Auto check out the fine site) "
So it sounds like he was part of the organizatione in order to use his name.
From the Rickenbacker history on their site:
"The Rickenbacker International Corporation (RIC) grew out of the first company founded for the sole purpose of creating and manufacturing fully electric musical instruments and amplifiers-the Los Angeles-based Electro String Instrument Corporation. Founded in 1931 by Adolph Rickenbacker and George D. Beauchamp, this pioneering firm produced "Rickenbacker Electro Instruments", the first modern electric guitars. "
then later
"Swiss-born, he was also a relative of WWI flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker."
doesn't say how they were related but they were some how.

Re: Rickenbacker Car Fan Site!
Thanks for the info - I could've checked on Wikipedia, of course. I somehow remember reading there were 3 famous Rickenbackers - two of them brothers... must've been either a very bad site or a very bad memory
