I'd also say no....... Though the usual "never say never with Rickenbacker" applies.

Given the few Capri models made on general, it's highly highly unlikely to see a LH model. If you did, I wouldn't be surprised to see a $25,000 price tag on it either.

FWIW, the oldest left-handed Rickenbacker I know of is the 4001-S given to Paul McCartney, made in January 1964.

If there are older lefty Ricks than this, it would be very cool and a revalation to this lefty.....come out wherever you are...

I've been hunting Capris for almost 20 years, and have never seen a left handed one. That said, I used to think that the 360F12 from '64 was ordered but never produced, so anything is possible. :-)

Ok..another to scratch off the list..!

At what point do you start to see Rickenbacker make production Lefties (other than special order).. mid sixties?

It's a shame to think lefties can never play any of those Rose Morris models etc..i assume they were not made in LH too?

1967 seemed to be a 'banner year' for lefty Rickenbackers.....having said that, the numbers I speak of are still VERY small. Many of the '67 guitars were probably made as samples IMO.....I would think just about ANY lefty would be a special order in most cases, though.

I have seen 4005s (one 4005/6), 360/6 and 12's, 370/6 and 12s....I have heard of a 4001-S in a lefty from 1967...never seen it though.

My 4001 from 1969 is still the earliest of these I've actually seen, save for McCartney's own bass.

Yeah, not much love from the summer in '67 if you were a southpaw...

According to F.C. Hall, McCartney’s bass was the first lefty.

I have images somewhere of a badly refinished and modified black lefty 360-6 O.S. from 1964. It is the earliest lefty Rickenbacker guitar I have found. I did own for many years a lefty late 1964 450-12 in MapleGlow, and the 1965 lefty 360-12 MapleGlow featured in the Bacon book (mislabeled as a 1970.)

Most of the 1960s lefty 300 series models discovered so far seem to have been from a single production run in 1967. They all have the internal block for the convertible models, although John Hall told me in the late 1980s that no lefty convertible combs were ever produced (I looked through the box of left over un-plated combs just to be sure…) These left the factory between 1967 and 1989. Nearly all have the lighter fingerboard and red side dot markers, as well.

At least until 1996, when I ended my involvement with the company, lefties were custom order instruments.

FWIW, there's a lefty 1967 4005 on the Register.
