Question For SWR Users

Post by fenbass »

Do you guys boost your mids when playing your Ric through SWR? Ive always ran my eq flat . Today I turned the mids up to about 2:00 on my 750x and holy cow my Ric came alive! massive punch ,bottom for days .heck i could feel the neck resonating through the 410t cab if you know what I mean.My Fenders like the eq flat. Thanks John

I usually run my SM400 the way the eq and tone control settings are in this pic. These setting usually work well, though I will change them to suit the room I'm playing in.

Funny you ask Joey because that was my next question I am currently using a Workingmans 410t Selmar Ca.I know my Pre Fender 750x pushes 450 watts at 8 ohms and my cab is only rated 400watts so I dont push it very hard. Now for the million dollar Question will I be able to hear a big difference between my 410T and a G3 cab ? I have heard my head with 2 G3 cabs and holly molly was it loud and clear the band had front of the house support and the 750x was on its own.The reason I ask is do I get another 410t or sell it and find a G2,G3or G4 cab?In your pic I see you use aG2jr.with your Sm400 .Do you ever run another cab? thanks John

I also had a Goliath II cab. I loved the sound of that cab, but especially after a 3 set gig, the last thing I wanted to do was pick up that cab and put it on my truck. My back doesn't miss it as much as my ears do. I'm not in a gigging band right now so, I really haven't been concerned with a getting a replacement for the G-II. I still have the G-Jr II. I have been wanting to get into another gigging band, so if I find one, I'll also have to find a good cab to go with the G-Jr II
I've sometimes brought my SWR SM400 to use at a local rehearsal studio. I'll unplug the Ampeg 350 SVT that is there from the Ampeg SVT 810E Classic cabinet. That cab sounds much better when it's powered by the SM400.

I've really had no experience with the newer SWR cabs, so I really couldn't advise you there.

This was my full SWR rig:
