Rickenbacker 330/6 Strings

Post by afonsor »

Hi,

I'm thinking about restringing my 330 with a set of 0.11s. Would those put too much tension on the neck of such guitar?
I hear that a lot of people put flatwounds on Rics but never tried it. What should I expect different from rounds if I go with flats?

thanks for your opinions/experiences

The neck would hangle the 11 gauge strings fine, although the nut might have to have the slots widened, and a truss rod adjustment would most likely have to be done.

Welcome, Chris at Pick of the Ricks makes a custom set of TI flats for use on Rickenbacker 12 strings. I have a set on my 360/12, and love them. The tension is just fine, and are actually easier to bend than the other 12 sets I had tried before those.
