Setup for 360/12 in Central MA

Post by John Mellor »

Hi All-
Apologies if this is in the wrong category, but it is guitar related... I turn 40 in March and my gift to myself is a 360/12 FG (which has been sitting in it's case based on the deal I made with my wife since I bought it a couple of months ago...).

Anyway, I would like to find a good Rickenbacker shop to do a proper first setup, etc. on her so she is ready to go when my B-Day comes. Any recommendations on shops in the Central Massachusetts area? I can also do Southern NH. I've been to the rick site and know where the dealers are...but figured this group may have some guidance.

Thanks!

Welcome to the RRF, JT. You know, if you couldn't find a Rickentech in central MA, all would not be lost. There isn't one in the whole state of Kansas, where I live, near as I can tell. That speculation is based on the fact that there is not one, single, solitary authorized Rick dealer in the whole state. So, I'm doing my own set-up. It isn't difficult. One just needs to be patient, and take it a little bit at a time. Here's a thread documenting the process. It helped me. >>>Poke Here<<<

P.S. I'm a relatively new 360/12 string owner, too. If I can do it, so can you.

+1 about doing your own setup. You'll learn so much about your 360/12. Search the forum - You'll find many threads dealing with all aspects of Rickenbacker setups.

I just wanted to let you all know that I got it all done and everything went successfully. I didn't break my guitar, and the neck is dead level. So JT, I just want to encourage you and anyone else reading this to get in there, have a go, save yourself a few bucks, and when all is said and done, you'll have something of a sense of real accomplishment.

Thanks Guys-
I have been doing my own setups on my six strings. I do enjoy it. In general, I plan on taking care of the 360/12 myself. But figured since she is out of box new from MF it would be a treat to have someone who knew what they were doing take the first crack. I have to admit the 12 string does feel like a different animal than what I am used to in terms of set up...Thought I would check here first to see if anyone had a tech they recommend.

Thanks!
