TRC exchange policy: normal for silver on black?

Post by paul_yan »

Hi gang, I'm considering getting a 4003 Jetglo and change the pickguard to black, and exchange the normal white TRC with RIC for a 4004 L type silver-on-black one. Does RIC accept such a TRC exchange these days?

Last I heard was that they would not swap colors...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Can do, but can't ship out of the USA. Got a friend in the US that will act as go-between?

That's sweet music to my ears, Kenny! Yes, I have a friend who can "go between". :D

I know it's policy, but doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose if you can use a go between to swap things and send parts? Wouldn't it just be easier for everybody if RIC would just ship overseas?

Good choice, and good to know it can still be done. I had heard there were no more color swaps. I did the same for my Jetglo 4003S, but with a mirror pickguard. :D

And what's cooler than a jetglo 4003S? Very little!

Maybe a 1992 4001V63FG, but... maybe not!

My understanding is RIC will swap Black to white and vice-versa but no gold out without a gold coming in.

Sorry - kind of a dead thread - but anyone know it's even possible to get an older 4001 (late 70's) TRC from Ric - and whether they'd take a RI plexi for one?

Thanks!

I think so, as long as it's real. I have the feeling they just destroy returned ones anyway, since they would have imperfections from use that keep them from use on new instruments.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Yep it's real, it even says "model 4001" on it. It's just stupidly spray painted and damaged from a fall.

Yes. I exchanged a beat, spray painted one for black/chrome letters last year.
