Rod, looks like a great acquisition! Thanks for sharing. You don't see to many 330 12ers from that era in Fireglo. That's a nice one.

I'm very pleased with the condition. Only a few dings here and there but barely noticeable. I bought it off the original owner, Bruce Mattey, of New Colony Six, a 60's band from Chicago that are still active today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGW4cFMAcS0

I've owned a lot of 12-strings over the years and this one finally nails the sound and features I was after. I tried everything from WB models (with vintage reissue toasters), 70's models w/hi-gains (swapped with vintage reissue toasters), a 12C63, a 12v64 (hi-gain toasters and swapped for vintage reissue toasters), etc. I could never get the perfect 12-string with all the features I was looking for: 1] x-bracing 2] vintage toasters 3] vintage neck 4] nickel klusons 5] vintage bridge 6] dot neck 7] vintage nut 8] bound body 9] vintage fireglo finish. I could never find the right combination of features to give me the sound I was after in any post-60's Rickenbacker so I sold my remaining 12-strings earlier this year in the hope that one day I'd find a 60's 12-string at a reasonable price (that didn't have neck problems). I'll likely never be able to afford a double-bound 60's model or my dream guitar, a 1993, but this gets me close and plays like a dream! :D

Wow! Growing up in central Illinois, I was a fan of the New Colony Six because they got a lot of airplay, being a 'local' band, and I really liked their music. I bought the band's anthology CD some years ago, and I wondered whether they had used a Rickenbacker 12-string in some of their songs (it sounded like it, especially in "I Love You So Much". I'll have to check out the link - thanks!

Nice guitar. I love the 330/12's without the triangle inlays.

Correction: the title of the song is "Love You So Much".

Here's a more recent video of the NC6 performing a medley:

I'm glad to see that those guys are still performing.
