West Coast Quake ***Roll Call***
West Coast Quake ***Roll Call***
Hope you guys and gals are OK out there....sounds like this latest jolt was down in Baja, but that it was rockin' and rollin' up in LA and out in Phoenix!

Weakest quake ever. Bring it on....
Seems like we've had one a week lately.....big one's coming!

Good to hear Collin. Heard this one was a long, rolling motion - sloshing water out of pools and stuff.
Being a flatlander from the east, having the ground move beneath me is unnerving...

Yeah, it was really long, and so gently rolling that everone around me had to stop and be still to notice it when I told them we were having an earthquake.
It's the 6.0+ "jarring" quakes that get scary and destructive.
I bet they had some real damage in Mexico, though.

Exactly the opposite in San Diego, where I was visiting my sister. (1) longest quake I've experienced, and (2) most ground movement (although not the most violent ground movement). I knew immediately that it was a big one close by. Everything is A-O.K., though.collin wrote:Weakest quake ever. ...

I was in Corona when it hit. It was shaking pretty good out there and for what seemed like a long time too!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: West Coast Quake ***Roll Call***
I felt it pretty good in Costa Mesa.
Like everyone seems to be saying, more of a slow roll than a jolt; but it seemed like it went on for some time.
A lot of water sloshed up out of the pool and a few new cracks in the concrete, but nothing too bad.

So that's what happens when I turn my amp up to 8...
Been through quite a few of them when I lived in CA, the ones that just rock & roll are interesting, when the ceiling tiles and everything starts falling (1989 "World Series Quake), it ain't so fun...
Glad to hear things weren't too bad...
Hmm, RIC seems to be off line, wonder if there's a connection to the quake? Hope everything is OK there...

I'm not a California native; as I never know what's coming next, those things scare the you-know-what out of me.

Nothing to bad out in Palm Desert. It was early 2000's maybe 02 at around 1:00 AM my bed started bouncing up and down , then the rolling started. Now that was an experience. think it was a 7.0 up in the high desert.

I was sorta-napping, sitting on the couch .... in that twilight sleepy stage.
My wife was watching TV and at first she thought I was kicking the couch - with one of those leg twitches....
Then she realized it was no leg twitch and woke me up and we saw the blinds swaying on the window and the water sloshing around a little bit in the pool..... Surprising that we could see the effects so many hundreds of miles away.
And then the CNN announcers said there was also a 4-point something up in Northern California, by Santa Rosa, which is a long, long way from Mexicali. Not sure if the two Quakes were actually geologically connected....
And then they interview the scientists at Cal Tech Earthquake center .. and these folks reassure us, with 100 % certainty, that there is nothing we can be certain about
as to the aftershocks or the "next big one".... Say What ??
