Trem on 325c64

Post by bd0104 »

Hi all, new 325c64 owner here so I apologize if this sounds silly or may have been addressed before. I did try to search the forum but didn't get any hits.

The end of the trem arm on the c64 is sharp as a meat hook! Does anyone have any innovative ideas on something to use as a cap so I don't puncture myself (or someone else??)?

First thing I thought of was a clear plastic cap similar to what is used on a fishing gaff!! But maybe there is something that's been thrown out there that works more universally? Ideally would want something clear so it doesn't impact the cosmetic look, and nothing too bulky that is a distration to the eye.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have,

Bob

Hey, Bob,

Why don't you try some of this stuff? A couple of coats of Plasti-Dip ought to take the sting out of your whammy bar. Just a thought. :)

There are vinyl and rubber slip-on tips available at places like Ace Hardware and Home Depot, in their specialty hardware sections. A few cents apiece will get you a whole passel of 'em; mix or match with each stage outfit!

I kind of like the yellow, though...

I have yet to skewer myself on any of my Accents, though for the life of me I can't figure out why the modern Accent has such a sharp tip, since the vintage models did not.

If y'all end up seeing a bunch of skewer marks and trails of blood on my right forearm in photos of next month's jam, then you'll know I've jinxed myself by saying this and will have eaten my words, so to speak...

Good suggestions . . . thanks to all !!

First stop is Lowe's or Home Depot and see if I can find a suitable rubber tip. I'll let you know how I make out.
