production totals of 2nd generation F-series?

Post by casinoman »

I know this is tough, but there must me some educated guesses here. Just trying to figure out how rare these guitars actually are. I suppose that the finish ranking would be fireglo, mapleglo and jetglo, with the majority of the guitars being 6-strings? Would a combined total of all versions of 100 instruments sound too much?

The smith book list 15 six strings made for 1968, no real info for other years or 12s. So I think there are 57 jelly beans in the jar total. :)

Over ten years of searching the Register has found 17 F models in total dating from 1966-1969. Our data has consistently been an understimate of the number of Rickenbackers produced and as such I do not think a total number of 100 is unreasonable. Our sample suggests that a number of "second generation F models" were produced in 1969.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
