Hi Guitar

Post by jwargowski »

A friend passed this along to me. Take a look at these knock off's. I can't speak for the quality, but at least in the pictures they look accurate. Amazing the sheer number and types of guitars they are copying - you can even get a knock off of an Epiphone (why?). Didn't see any Ricks in there. The Gibson custom even come with a Gibson certificate of authenticity, and the Gretsch's say made in the USA on the back of the headstock (although they have humbuckers rather than filtertrons).
Very scary - e-bay buyers beware!

Yikes...

If you were looking for a project guitar starting point, these might be the business. Still, the real guitar companies should protect their copyrights with a bit more vigor.

Something tells me that they wouldn't have any kind of ethical problem putting pictures of real Gibsons on their webpage.

...which is exactly what they often do.

Intellectual property is a foreign concept to profit-driven Asian manufactories.
