Body Shots

Post by cjj »

Well, it was a nice day yesterday (snowing again today :( ) and I decided it was high time to take a few pictures. Unfortunately, there were numerous clouds drifting by so I got pictures with the shade of clouds as well as with full sun. And since I didn't have a whole lot of time (rain was moving in quickly), I couldn't wait until I had the same conditions for all shots.

Anyway, I'm finally trying to figure out this old digital camera we have (Nikon Coolpix 5700). It's got lots of features I don't know how to use and I'm not used to having to find all the settings with buttons and menus. I'm used to my old Nikon F & F3 where mostly you grab the focus and aperture rings on the lens and set the shutter speed how you want it. The autofocus is the most annoying feature of all, but this morning I figured out how to shut that off. :D

Anyway, since I know everyone appreciates RIC-O-Porn, here are a few of the pictures I shot.

In order of manufacture date:

Not bad for a dinosaur who prefers a camera made in 1959 (Nikon F).

Have you seen a photo of my preferred camera?

Yep, the F was made in 1959, bought new by my dad on his way back from Korea. And yeah, I actually like it better than the F3, but mostly due to familiarity.

I like your favorite camera too, I've used one like that a few times...

Cool, so you have a very early one with history. 8)

The F3 has always had a rep for metering problems, ours at the lab certainly does! We also have a F and a F2, but primarily use our FM2ns or Hasselblads, including a SWC.

Oops, I messed up the date on this, I couldn't exactly remember when my dad got back (it's been a few years). I found a Nikon F serial number decoder and it would seem my Nikon F was made between Jan & Aug of 1960...

Thanks! Yeah, it's not really uncommon around here. Needless to say, it doesn't stick on the ground too long this time of year...

I've been out of college for about 30 years, but I used that as the title for just that reason...
