I'd love to own this one... Is it Tim Sarter's bass?

I think Steve Wood has Tim Sarter's ex. Apparently, there was a handful of SG V63s made; as far as we know, the only V63 in a Color of the Year.

The elusive 4001v63sg - The search for that bass is what brought me to this forum back in 2003. I just missed out on buying Tim's and Mike Parks had one new in the box still for just under 3K, which I foolishly passed on.

Although not color's of the year..I guess technically, according to the finish time line they could have been made in red, white or burgundy. Not sure if anyone has seen an example of this. When did production begin? If it was 84...I guess they could have been ordered in Walnut ,Azureglo and Silver too.Imagine that? We have seen Turq and Mid Blue.

Don't forget Ruby and Azureglo!

It appears that the 4001V63s that were finished in anything other than MG, FG and JG were done at the very end of the V63 production, such as SG, TUR and MID in 2001 and 2002. Even JG didn't come along until 1995 or so.

Nope. As stated Steve has mine.

I would love to buy this one, but they are willing to work with me enough on the price. Someone said they've had it for over a year, so I'm surprised they are holding out for so much.

Oh well...

Well, that's Olivia's Vintage for you. They seem to get lots of fairly unique guitars, ask seemingly ridiculous prices, and often get them. For the most part, I don't think they're too worried about holding something for a year or two before it sells. I have heard that they will sometimes deal on the price, but I have no idea how much...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I'm not positive, but the one on the left in this photo may be pre-1995.

Yes it was. That one is Ted's (formerly Marc's) and IIRC it's a '94 or '95.

Early JG V63's are hard to come by. I once saw a beat up '91 or so listed for sale on an Australian retailer's website, but other than that one and Ted's I don't know of any with the longer headstock.

RIC was busy pumping out CS's in the early 90's. Actually any color V63 from the early 90's are hard to come by, but JG's are like hens teeth!

Especially in '91. There's very few V63's compared to CS's from that year.
