Also Link Wray would have been 81 on May 2 (sorry I didn't post it). We paid tribute to both at our gig on Sunday, as well as Dicks biggest influence-Johnny Cash. As we were finishing "The Wedge", the last operating Santa Fe Railroad STEAM engine went by on the tracks next to where we were playing with its whistle blowing. Coincidence or a message from above? Of course, we HAD to play "Folsom Prison Blues" next.
I'm fortunate to have known Dick for many years; and yes, he's as tough as he looks-what you see is what you get. He's always been gracious to me and returned every email and phone call. And the man IS a legend!
