4001 project

Post by scottpro1969 »

I'm considering a particular project:

I asked him if the truss rods were backed off since the bass isn't under tension. Here's his reply:

"I'm very unfamiliar with rics, so I'm not sure whats going on with the rods"

In his description though he says the truss rods work fine. I'm a little leery about this. Even if that neck is still under tension, is it possible that the neck is still good? I understand it depends how much the rods were tightened, etc...I don't know if it's worth it or not. The price is steep anyway.

There's lots of info here on re tapping rods. I'd assume by his response, the rods are probably bent at the heads. Check to see if the fretboard is lifting from improper use of the rods.

Scott, you probably want to change your post around. They chlanged the forum rule to state that you couldn't link to other forums.

Just a "head's up"

Sorry Scott. Colin is right. Due to things that went sour with previous links to others forums. The rues state that we should not post links to other forums. Please feel free to discuss all the the details about the 4001, but not mention the other forum.
