To Be Alive - Bass clip

Post by miguelbass »

Hello Friends,

Here is the latest clip I made. A non-Rick one - instead, an 8-string (with Chris' custom tuning).

Miguel

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/P_N0JHx14rc&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/P_N0JHx14rc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/youtube]

YT notes:

A beautiful song by Billy Sherwood. Also a good example of how to make use of the 8-string bass, letting the notes shine, keeping it simple and focus on the timbre of the instrument. The top two strings are tuned in perfect fifths (just like "Changes" or "Hearts")

Once again, absolutely fantastic work! :D
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Nice work, Miguel, as always, and excellent audio mix too!

A nice tune from one of my favorite Yes CD's. I always liked hearing Steve slow strumming the chromatic sympathetic strings of his Danelectro coral guitar - can't do that with the variaxe!

I'm hoping the new Yes CD is as good as The Ladder. Here's hoping... :D

Thank you, Jim & CJ!

As a side note - about the mix - for sometime now I began to cut frequencies below something about 60 Hz or something. It's a shame to filter out content which is still on the fundamental region but YT's encoding doesn't seem too like it. I'm happy it still sounds good enough, though the version I have here rendered is much better!

Thanks again! (and for the cool insight on Steve's playing there)

Miguel - great piece... i think you have nailed it once again. Fine work... so relaxed nothing pushed.... great effort! Thanks for posting. Some day I will figure out why the video links do appear here... and not be such a bother. Please keep them coming.

Thanks Tom! I'll keep the links for the future in written form, it's not a problem. CJ was faster! :)

Miguel, another shining example! Finally got to hear it with good speakers. Tom's comments nail it.
