Most Expensive Rick?

Post by jack1953 »

I was referring strictly to bass guitars, which is why I posted this in the bass section.

381V69/12, according to the price list. It's the most expensive model because it costs the most....

Okay, all kidding aside, it's the priciest model due to the extra wood and labor of cutting the German Carve on both sides, as well as the checkered binding on both sides.

Understood. Now, does it sound better than say a 4003 or just different?

The most expensive Rickenbacker "New"For Bass that is " is the 4001c64S. The reason is because its a recreation of Paul Mccartneys bass. A normal 4003 "New" is $1,989 and a 4001c64 is $3400. Hope this helped.

Production models aside, I wonder if even JH has a price in mind for which he would build a one-off 4005 ($20K?)...or sell one of those 4002's he has sitting on palettes (rumor has it) at the Ric factory. :)

It's not a bass, it's a 12-string guitar.

The c64 basses have been discontinued. The most expensive bass is the 4004Cii with a list price of $2729. Next would be the 4004L at $2459, and finally the 4003 at $2159.

Okay, is it the better sound or more quality in production that makes the 4001Cii 600 more than the 4003?

I don't know about the C series bass but 4003s are a couple hundred cheaper than that or more most every place I've inquired.

Ignoring historic and celebrity owned bases, etc. anyone have any idea what the highest price ever paid for a new Rick bass was, including the few one of a kind models that come out from time to time?
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I see very little difference from the 4003s and the 4001c64.

Then you should have your eyes checked
In all seriousness, there are many differences:
Reverse headstock, reverse TRC, Toaster neck pickup which is spaced 1/2 inch from the fretboard (the 4003 has a higain pickup located 1 inch from the fretboard), no bindings, horseshoe bridge pickup, zero fret, dot inlays.
Did I miss anything?
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Even though orders for C64/C64S have been discontinued. I believe there are some still being made to fill those orders taken before the announcement was made that future production would stop. That may have been completed by now though.

There was supposed to be a replacement for the C basses added to the line. But nothing has been announced, and with the backlog they have, probably won't be anytime soon.

My, so many questions.

The answer is maybe, possibly, depends, and "it's subjective."

The 4004cii is a different animal from the 4003. Does it sound better? Subjective. Is either "made better?" No; made equally well.

The 4004 series does have humbuckers that are diffferent from the 4003/4001 PUs, and they tend to be made from more select woods that show much more grain that the average 4003 (cjj, go away, we know you have a gorgeous 4003  ). The hardware is different, and on and on. It costs RIC more to make a 4004cii, so it costs more than a 4003. Is it "better?"

To really assess this, you need to buy one, compare it with your 4003, and tell us. And then the next guy will say the opposite.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

I've got a gorgeous 4004Cii too...

And yeah, they are different than a 4003. Better? As others have said, it depends on what you're looking for. Definitely different, but definitely still all Rick...
