My New 340 FG...

Post by electrofaro »

I'm in love... with a firey gloing redhead :D

She's from 2008 (34477) and I love the (quite dark?) Fireglo - the sound she makes is unbelievable!

The seller (a greek Gibson & Epiphone bass player) is looking for a 480 or 483 - a very friendly guy. He wants one of those as it looks like a bass :D

The 340 plays wonderful - except for the low e string. It's just as bad as the one that came on my 360 JG.
When I'm back from Tuscany I'll put TI .011s on.

I wonder how the colour will change over time, btw. Does the center get a lot more yellow in colour?
Does the ageing effect the red as well?

I think your fireglo will yellow nicely over time. Now, the very, very new ones are being done with a non-yellowing finish, but yours probably has the normal clear coat which will get warmer and prettier with the years. :)

Remember, it's not the paint that yellows but the clear coat.

It would look even better if I could actually take decent pictures
Oh well, the pictures are not that bad. Still, the pictures don't do her justice though!

I'm still feeling like Santa just brought me the present I've wanted all year long! :D

Welcome Hal! (I forgot to welcome you in the Fireglo thread).

What model are you expecting?

What strikes me most is how loud and clear the 340 is compared to my 360 - I'm currently wondering if there might be an electronics problem with the 360. Played unplugged the 360 makes quite a different sound with way more bassy low e sustain. The 340's kind of bluesy in low strings and nice and jangley in the high strings (compared to my 360, that is).

Hello Werner. Olivias is sending a new 2009 360/12 MG my way. Its killing me too 'cause tracking tells me its only something like 18 miles away from me and I still have to wait until Wednesday. *aaaghggh*

She's a beauty! Congrats. Getting rare, too, now that they've stopped making them.

Ah, very cool! I'd been looking at one of their 370/12 MIDs. A 12er in MG's wonderful, though! Lucky man, having such beauties! (Not that I can complain, though) :D

The only 340 I could find on eBay actually - plus for a rather decent price - a new 330 is slightly more expensive!
