Tone check :)

Waddaya think of this? You'll have to excuse the volume drop, I was just messing around and didn't expect to keep this.

Nice sample, James. What are the details on the bass? It sounds like a fretless with flats - has that thick Motownish vibe.

Gotta say, though - not a big fan of the site you posted this sample on. I got hit by a bunch of pop-up ads after I hit the link. You may consider posting on a different, less invasive site. Here are a few to check out:

Nice and punchy. I suppose the next test is to drop it down to a more typical level in the mix and see how it holds up. They never mix us quite as loud as we would like and it can be surprising how much can get lost in the process. What sounds like great solo tone sometimes can sound totally wrong (too boomy, too tinny, undefined, too bright, too dull, or a host of other things) when you really blend it into the mix.

Sorry about the site, I had no idea it had popups. I'll stick with the name brands next time, though no thanks to signing up to upload 20 second clips

Yeah it is quite loud at ~250hz and is too roomy, I threw it together using headphones and it sounded pretty nice at the time . I'll do a quick edit on speakers and see how that sounds tomorrow.

Walker, its an old 4001 with flats.
