Forty-five years ago, on 22 June, Columbia Records released "Mr. Tambourine Man." Hard to believe, isn't it?
On UIC Radio John Rose hosts a program called "Hidden Treasures." The show airs from 12:00-4:00 PM CDT US time every Monday. He will be featuring the song on today's program. Give it a listen.

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man Release
I remember that summer well.......one of my RRF forum cd submissions was a song called "12-String Summer".....I'll post a link to it sometime.....the summer of ' 65.......that was the summer that the band I was in, The Vynes, bought a brand new 360-12...all five of us...my contribution was $65.......the first time we played "Tambourine Man" was one of the coolest things I remember from the band days......jimk wrote:Forty-five years ago, on 22 June, Columbia Records released "Mr. Tambourine Man." Jim --- have you any idea how long it took from the single's release date till MTM hit #1 on the Billboard chart ?
Re: Mr. Tambourine Man Release
No, I don't. But I don't think it took long. For it seems like I remember that song being all over the radio in the summer of '65. It was a pretty rapid rise. I'll see what I can find out.

Hi, two books I have say that MTM was released on April 12, 1965 and hit #1 on June 26th of that year. The song was recorded on Wednesday, January 20th, 1965. CBS sat on it for months, not knowing what they had. BTW, the song was #1 for one week, with "I Can't Help Myself", by the Four Tops at #1 on the prior week and "Satisfaction" at #1 on the week after.
