Anne Murray's Bassist

Post by chucksimms »

Last night on CBC they had a documentary on her, and played a number of live performances (none of which I could find on youtube) that featured her bass player with a Rickenbacker 4000. His sound was great and reminded me of how much I liked those tunes (Snowbird, Danny's Song) as a kid. Anybody know anything abour the bass player or his Rick?

Gee, a Google search gave me references to the names of her drummer (Barry Keane; http://panamaproductionsinc.com/bio.htm) and steel guitar player (Bob Lucier; http://demokidblog.wordpress.com/tag/player/) but the bass players I found were in the credits for a 1999 album (Peter Bleakney [Bass, Fretless Bass Guitar], Peter Cardinali [bass, Conductor; also listed in a 1993 album credits]; http://music.barnesandnoble.com/What-a- ... 4382023128) and a 2000 album (Kevin Axt Bass; http://music.barnesandnoble.com/Duets-F ... ann+murray).

snowbird was the first song i ever learned when i took up the bass in 1974. i had eight lessons by my teacher,(who quit teaching to get married ?) and he thought that was a great song to start learning with finger positions with the right hand...index-middle-index-middle and so on. he was right. then "kiss alive" and "rush, fly by night" came along and all bets were off ! saw anne murray at canada's juno awards when we were nominated for best new rock album against rush...yes, we lost ! us big hairs were looking at murray's hot daughter who was sitting behind us with anne, and got the "scold look of death" by mommy. we never looked back for the rest of the show.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say 'Anne Murray's hot daughter' ...I'd have a nickel.

:D Great story!
