Is it a Ric?
Around 2:50 there's a good shot of the bassist. Is he playing a heavily modded 4001 or a copy?
“'What was that note?' I told him it was a B natural, the third of G dominant 7 going back to C minor, and I can't talk while I'm playing so don't ask me any more questions." - Ron Carter to Miles Davis
Re: Is it a Ric?
I'm guessing "copy". I've seen one brand of copy that had the light fretboard and dark triangles, can't remember which brand though. Doesn't look like it has a Rick style TRC either...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Is it a Ric?
Yeah, I figured copy, but there was another Hot Chocolate video a friend of mine posted on his Facebook page where you couldn't see the bass, but it sure sounded like a Ric. It's a shame those things are floating around out there.

Re: Is it a Ric?
Looking at the fretboard it could be a high spec John Birch one-off.
Re: Is it a Ric?
Copy. Someone at one of the other bass forums posts pics of his.
Re: Is it a Ric?

It looks very much like one of these:
This is my 1976 John Birch - soon to be refinished in yellow.
NOT disguised in any way as a Ric!!!
