YES / Frampton storm damage

I caught the tail end of the news last night and there was a clip of some pretty significant storm damage to YES and Framptons stage last night just before they were ready to perform.

Does anyone know if anyone was hurt or if any equipment was destroyed?

It was local news here in OKC. The storm approached then colapsed bringing a gust of very high winds. Tore the stage up and the amps/speakers, keyboards and drum sets all exposed to the rain. 6 people were injured (crew/stage members). From my understanding, no serious injuries thankfully. They do plan to reschedule as they are not refunding tickets so hopefully it will be pretty soon.
This is the risk we take when setting up outdoors for a concert.

CONCHO, Oklahoma -- Lucky Star officials have canceled the Yes, Peter Frampton concert at the casino after strong winds caused the stage to collapse Tuesday afternoon.

"It's a very sound structure. It's capable of handling winds up to 80 miles per hour," said Mark Rodgers, Lucky Star Casino Marketing.

Six workers were injured. Two were taken to the hospital, one worker suffered a broken leg. Others say it's a storm that came out of no where.

"This was a single gust of wind that did this. And a minute later there's not an ounce of wind left," said a stage worker.

Event officials said 10,000 tickets were sold to Tuesday's concert that was set to start at 8 p.m.

The concert will be rescheduled for a later date, and refunds are not being offered.

Peter Frampton took to his Twitter page to discuss the concert's cancellation.

"Stage collapsed at Lucky Star venue. All crew are safe but gear damaged. Show cancelled! On way there to see for ourselves," Frampton said via Twitter.

Im glad no one was seriously hurt. I hope Squire's basses were put away and not sitting in harms way.

When we first heard, we knew the bands were safe but several crew members had been injured. This included Steve Howe's guitar tech and the merchandise manager, who travel with the band, as well as a local stage crew member. Five or six people were injured, none "seriously". There was signifigant damage to the stage, sound system, lighting truss, and instruments present.

I'm still waiting to hear which gear was damaged, specifically...

One thing that amazes me is both drum sets were still set up along with the keyboards after it was over. But yet everything else around them blew over.

Thankfully this didn't turn into a tornado which (as I understand) can happen with moderate occurrence in the OK area. Goes to show you the unpredictable nature of the planet. One minute everything's fine, the next you've got the wind blowing vegetables all over your albums.



If only there was one word which summed up a windstorm meeting produce...

This is both good and bad news. Good that it didn't happen during the concert (acts and crowd injuries) and bad because of the injuries and equipment lost. Of course the injuries are the most important. No lives were lost. It could have been a lot worse.

There were a few brave souls who ran to help while the others were running for cover.

wow that was quick! yeah folks running towards the disaster - things like that can bring out the best in people... kinda restors ones faith in humanity! Lucky could have easily been much worse.
