He-he. Hot, you say? Around 35-40 °C for more than a month & heavy smoke (for a couple of weeks) above all Moscow origin & a few other origins (Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod), where "heavy" is equivalent to about 2-3 packs of cigarettes smoke inhaled in a day. Way too hot for our country, peat-bogs and forests burning. Oh well. A human being is an animal that is able to get used to anything.
Well, you can see for yourself. Typical Moscow landscape these days.

The fog didn't break here until well after noon. Now the sun is breaking through and it's up to 72F.
If it is to be, it is up to me.

How are you doing over there, Sheena? I've been thinking of you these past few days.

Scorching temps here. I'm thinking of a blissful moment last October, sipping a blueberry ale on the Maine coast, watching the lobstermen bringing their cages and boats in on the very last day of the season.

Or waking to this view from my room in New Hampshire:

I'll second that for Kentucky. Record heat and the ridiculous humidity have made it miserable.

So Cal is having quite a nice, mild, sunny summer. Here in Long Beach it's in been in the low to mid 70s for the most part all summer, and projected to stay that way for the next week as well.

"Smoking" through day and night without my own free will. We all are here, in fact, including dedicated non-smokers. Well, it doesn't feel nice, but still, there may be worse things in life. Life's going on, people go to work and all that.

In San Diego, we had the coolest July in 77 years and tied the second coolest on record. August so far has been like June (June Gloom!), but triple digits are coming the end of this week.

Here on the central Great Plains we've had temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s, not unusually hot for August, but far, far from pleasant. Humidity is unusually high, however, making me feel ever so much more homesick for Oregon.

Yeah...last week was one of the hottest I could remember in my 14 years here.

Still, only another 10-12 weeks to go...

The humidity here today was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Two words - air conditioning.
