What do you think this Fender amp is worth?

Post by octagon »

It is a Fender 'Frankenamp"
What do you think this is worth. It is at my friends store and I am thinking about buying it but I am unsure of the market value for something like this.

The chassis came from a 1961 Brownface Fender Super

and the Cabinet is from a 1963 Blonde Fender Pro

It came out of a nearby recording studio where it has lived for the past 40 years. It is a work horse but it has been well maintained. It has the original transformers but I don't know the origin of 15 inch speaker. It sounds killer.I love the "harmonic vibrato" in this amp.

Original clean Brownface Supers are selling for over $2000

That looks like a tidy rig, though it's made of original parts, they will probably devalue each other being bolted together (as opposed to being matched to an original Super cab and an original pro chassis).

The brownface super, btw....is one of my all-time favorite amps. Crank it up and soak up the glory. :)

ps....$1500 wouldn't be unreasonable if the chassis is unmolested.

I love this amp because it has the "Harmonic Vibrato" circuit that sounds like this

OK, some corrections about the origin of this amp.It is a 1961 Fender Super 6G4-A(Link)) chassis.

In a 1961 Fender Pro 6G5(Link) cabinet

It came from a studio in Nashville where the last owner bought it as is 30 years ago

The Super is mostly original but one of the transformers was changed to allow it to fit in the cabinet with a 4 ohm 15 inch speaker.
