Fair Trade?
I walked into a music shop and they have a used 6119 TR, the newer one with the Filter Trons, cut f-holes, and 25.5" scale. It played beautifully (unplugged - only had a few minutes to window shop). It looks beautiful too, aside from a sticker on the front. I'm seriously considering walking in and offering up my 1996 620FG which is in very good condition. It's not that I don't like the 620. It plays and sounds nice, but it's just that I'm tall and it feels so small on me compared to my 480's. The Gretsch would also add a new tonal characteristic.
However, I'm not sure how it will sound through a Hiwatt. And it brings up a question, do the cut f-holes present more feedback issues than the painted f-holes?
So what do you all think?

It all depends on the terms of the trade - on a market value basis swapping a 620 for a 6119 in similar condition sounds at least fair. If they want your 620 and some cash, then it all comes down to how much cash.....
I've only ever played a 6119 with real sound holes, so I can't comment on the with/without feedback issue.

Chip: I would ask these questions of Chapman who has a 6119TR for trade here.

Just an update that I've had second thoughts, but not due to cold feet. My daughter has just started showing an interest in playing the guitar. She has been picking out melodies by ear and seems capable of playing chords. Now I'm thinking about holding on to it in case she continues.

I do too, to a degree. It's a great effect, especially in a power trio. I just worry it would be uncontrollable and shrieky. yes I know exatly what you mean, been-there-done-that during the 1970's with a squealer that happened to be a 1968 Strat.
Then I had the opposite problem, an orange Gretsch Nashville with an Acoustic Control Corp. 370 amplifier that refused to feedback at extreme volume when I wanted it to, hahaa!
Another example, take Steve Howe's (YES) Gibson ES-175, it doesn't feedback onstage even though it's an F hole hollow body.
Frankly, I don't understand it.
