Guitar stands
A while back I think there was a thread discussing the type of rubber that was used on guitar stands. Someone had made some kind of cloth covers for their's. Anyone remember this? If so, are there any pics? my wifes pretty good with a sewing machine, and I want her to make me some.

I wrap all the parts of a stand (top and bottom hoops and the little supporting rubber block at the bottom) that get in touch with the instruments with cotton self-adhesive tennis racket wrap strips (lots of colours to choose from, mine is red) and finish off the tips with matching coloured cotton clothes. When the tips are finished, there won't be any sharp edges of the rubber tubing that can scratch the instruments sometimes.

For Andy and Paul: Thanks for the innovative suggestions on keeping our Rickenbacker finish safe.
As I follow-up question for both of you, does the "safer" smooth surface you have created hold the instrument in place as well as the rubber or is there a greater tendency for it to slip forward and fall off the bottom of the stand?

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Andy, where does your wife find the material that goes inside of guitar cases ? I've been looking in fabric stores in New York and California, and I can't find it anywhere. Not only would I like it to cover my guitar stands, but I would also like to line the interior of a Calzone ATA flight case with that material.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Hey Joey, She got this stuff from a place here in Jersey call The Rag Shop. This stuff is probably a little thicker than what you would find in a guitar case, but when we picked it out it was what most resembled and felt like the fabric in a case. You could probably tell from the first pic that this stuff is pretty thick. Actually I’m thinking about lining my flight case also. First I need to change the shape from a P-bass to a Rick.
Hope this helps Joey – good luck!
Yeah Matt, I hear you. I played a C64 a couple of times, not long enough to compare the sound difference (if any). I’m definitely partial to my V63. She’s real sweet, the horseshoes appear to be magnetized too! It’s a March 85 and I’m the original owner. Almost sold it once – don’t know what the hell I was thinking about. I still get that sinking feeling when I think about that.
Cheers
