I didn't know they used Pyramids back then. :? JH said they were made by Maxima.... In any case, they look old - heavily oxidized.

The ambering on that finish is fantastic (and I don't dig MG).

Now, did '68s have a black nut or a white delrin nut? This one has a black nut and is described as "completely original."

Edited to add: In scouring the Registry, it looks like the black nut was common to the (few) '68 basses in the registry, and the delrin came into use in '69 or so. Hmmm...
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

The action is very high and the bridge looks bottomed out. Otherwise, DROOL.

He stated that in the description. The neck has bowed forward where it joins the body.
Except for injecting lots of $$$€€€£££ in it I guess there's nothing you can do about it.
But it plays nice, it plays nice, it plays nice.. the more he says it the less I tend to belive it.

"Note the crushed shell inlays in the fingerboard. Ric quit using this unique material around 1972-3 because it became unavailable. This type of shell comes from a small chain of islands near Okinawa that are now protected as a national park, hence the material is not only unavailable, but strictly protected."

Quite a yarn-spinner. We gotta have him over to the next BARC...

" The finish is original and very thin, probably nitrocellulose..."

Probably not...
