Höfner bass pickups

I played this '66 Höfner Beatle bass at IVG last Friday. One he77 of a bass...lotsa mojo, powerful tone for such a small thing, and I noticed, the pickups are a little different than they are in the RI of Sir Paul's bass. When did these pickups occur and when did Höfner go back to their original design (I see they're on the contemporary basses, too)

Those are "blade" pickups, which they went to in '65 or '66. People who are really into Hofners seem to prefer them over the staple pickups.

Bass had a lot of mojo. I wouldn't mind picking one up in the near future. And it's not that much more than a reissue.
